Five Minute Halloween Wreath....Seriously

This post is short and sweet.  I picked my daughter up from school, we came in the house, she sat down at the computer to do homework and I said, "Look what I just made."  Yeah, she was in disbelief too.  Seriously, took less than five minutes...I'm thinking more like two....took me longer to find the duct tape.  Seriously.

My supplies from Dollar Tree:  swim noodle, scary skeleton thing, two creepy nets = $4.  Already had on hand duct tape (who doesn't?) and black spider rings from last Halloween.

Had the trusty glue gun plug in, but didn't even need it.  However, I knew I wasn't hanging my wreath outside since I already have a pretty cute on the front door :)  If hanging it outside, I would have probably secured the net better.

I taped the ends and actually had planned on spray painting the wreath either black or gray (whichever I had more of), but then said forget it!  I didn't want to wait for paint to dry.

That's it!  I wrapped the net around, place random spiders and used the ribbon (had from last year) to secure the skeleton.  So fast and easy!

Pottery Barn Like Message Center

I'm so psyched!  About a week ago I bought another "as is" bundle from Ikea for $10 (love those!!), and there were three paneled doors (very light weight) that go on one of their free standing closet systems (in with a foot board and various other pieces).  I knew exactly what I was going to do with them right when I saw them!
It's about seven feet long, but I didn't actually measure it (that would have required me to look for the measuring tape).

Close up of the panels and some small damage.  Didn't bother me, I'm going to cover it up.

Laid out all my accessories I wanted to add and I had to cut down the four squares of cork board to make them fit.

Once again used my fave Martha stencil to add some color to the middle panel.

This is the first time I have tried Martha paint.  I normally go with the low end acrylic, but the "high gloss" appealed to me and I love this color (Geranium).

Everything painted and adhered.  I'm not going to lie.....the stencil kicked my ass!  It was so hard to do next to the raised edges.  I ended up free-handing the edges.  A close up pic is coming...don't judge!  :)

I painted some cardboard letters with the Martha paint to fill in the weird spot left over from not wanting to have too many pieces of cork board put together like a puzzle (not attractive)




And.....the close up.  Yeah, it's bad, real bad.



I love it though!  I'm going to make the other two panels (however, they are a little narrower), and try to sell them.  My daughter, Heather , and my niece both want one, but no way am I hauling them to Kansas!  Heather was visiting me (and with me) when I purchased the bundle and she was NOT happy about the giant pieces looming over her and Kayden's heads while driving home.  She is such a sweet sister, I just KNOW she wouldn't wish that on her little brother during our drive to Kansas over the Christmas holiday (*please note the heavy sarcasm*).

Fall IS NOT In The Air...But It's In MY House!

I went crazy in Dollar Tree....love their inexpensive, ok dirt cheap, fall decor!  Also, I went to JoAnn's the next day and let me tell you...they had the same little black crows for $6.99!!!!  I'd rather pay a dollar, sorry JoAnn's!  (I did find lots of other goodies (fabric) and fall was 40% off (but still didn't buy any seasonal crap). 

I bought a few plastic bowls and two candlesticks at Dollar Tree, sprayed them (and everything else I had on hand) Krylon's Oil Rubbed Bronze (love it!).  Here was the process:


Hot glued them together


hot glued the camdlestick on (I didn't want it to be permanent)
Pumpkins, glue sticks and spanish moss from Dollar Tree too

shoved crumbled newspaper in bottom of bowl, add hard cardboard, then moss

Crap load of hot glue to keep pumpkin centered


Love it and the bowls remind me of cornstalks!
I picked up these two baskets at JoAnn's for 50% off, sprayed my candle stick ORB and used E6000 to glue it all together.  I'm really in love with these baskets and will find lots of use for them after fall.

Good Morning Sunshine

I've had a crazy couple of weeks.  I'm still recovering from my trip to Kansas and having my daughter, Heather's, little family, here visiting.  After returning from my brother-in-law's funeral, it was such a joy to see my granddaughter, Kayden's, beautiful, gummy, cheesy smile every morning!  It made me so happy!  I would say, "Good morning, Sunshine," and she would just bust out a  drool-ly grin!  This was for her:

(I'm kind of obsessed with my new Martha Stewart stencils (that I bought from Michael's with my 50% off coupon!!!!!!)  So, I decided to make another sign......
Spray painted Krylon's Classic Gray

Made my own shade of light pink

Sanded

Trusty Mod Podge with cardstock letters



Kaydie Bug is my little ray sunshine!  She went back to Kansas with her parents on Saturday and an hour after they left, I was going through baby withdrawals!!!  Come on Christmas!  (That's when I get to see her again :))

So...which sign should I send her???
