LOVE is Unstoppable

Happy New Year's Eve!!! I'm looking forward to getting these first two and half months over quickly so my hubby can come home for GOOD!! Can I get an AMEN?!? This deployment seems to have lasted FOREVER :/ But still.....finding my sanity one craft at a time ;)

Anybody else out there love Rascal Flatts? I know I'm not the only one! Unstoppable is one of my favorite songs from them and getting into the spirit of Valentine's Day....a sign was born...

Isn't the paper pretty?  I found it at Michael's in the cheap bins, only $1.50!  And there is a lot of it!  I used my cammie to cut out the letters.

I used a measuring {or how my girls claim I say it "maysuring"} stick to keep my lines straight.  The paper did wrinkle as I was applying the letters.  It's really thin paper and I attached it my canvas with spray adhesive.  I haven't found the trick to prevent the wrinkles yet....anybody else know??

The finished sign.  I can't wait to set up a Valentine's display!

You Have the Key to my Heart

Hi! Do I still have followers out there??? I feel like I've neglected my blog for a month! Since I am participating in the One Month To Win It contest {Season 7}, I have spent all my free time on The Graphics Fairy blog deciding which image to use in first week challenge. There are so many awesome images that it was really DIFFICULT to pick one. I'm a little obsessed with skeleton keys right now, so I got a little sidetracked and decided to make myself a sign :) For the first time ever, I attempted to print on material. Oh yea, I was very scared {mostly because I can't afford to ruin our printer!} but it came out beautifully. I used spray adhesive to attach my burlap to a regular piece of computer paper. I had no issues, but please, use your own judgment, not all printers are the same! I also cut my boards from an old pallet that my friend, Sarah B., rescued from the curb ;)

I attached the burlap with thumbtacks to the middle board, and then, I printed out my saying on my Silhouette Cameo, or as I call it, my Cammie.

I Mod Podged the letters in place, let it dry and then added another layer over all the boards.

I kind of love it.

Didn't it print out so clear and pretty??!  I might become obsessed with printing on fabric now!

Remember the chippy, rusty bird bath that I told you about HERE? Well, Christmas has been put away and now I am still deciding what I should do with it. I'll figure something out....eventually.  Unless any of you have a great idea you'd like to share with me?!?!

This is where I've been....

I've been spending time with my hubby (he got to come home for Christmas!) and our granddaughter, Kayden.  She's so adorable!

We took Hagan bowling for the first time and...

and he had so much fun (even if I thought he was going to put a hole in the floor with the way he dropped that 6 pound ball!)

We took Kayden to make her first handprint ornament at our local pottery shop.

Later Santa came to our town square!

Daddy got to visit Hagan's school for the first time and helped him decorated gingerbread men :)

We took Heather and Kayden to the airport and a few days later picked up our middle daughter, Haley.  To say she was excited to see us would be an understatement!  First semester of college equals one homesick girl!

Enjoyed every second with this man!

We decorated gingerbread houses and Christmas cookies,

did A LOT of this! 

Then already it was Christmas day.  Hagan was so excited, I thought he was gonna bust before his sisters came downstairs!

Then the next morning came and we had to say goodbye to my hubster and leave him at the airport.  It was a crazy, activity-filled two weeks...the only thing I wish I could change would be to slow time down...seems like it went too fast.  I've been keeping myself busy preparing for the first week of One Month To Win It and deconstructing all the Christmas decor....does anyone else feel like their house seems so empty without all the festive decor?  I sure do....kinda forgot what my house looked like before!  I hope you all had a joyous holiday!

One Month To Win It Contest

PRESENTS FOR GRANDMA (S)

Happy Friday everyone!! My oldest daughter, Heather, and her baby girl, Kayden, are here to visit us for a week AND we are picking up Daddy/aka Hubby tonight!!!! He gets to come home for a two week R & R! My middle daughter, Haley, will be here on the 17th!! So, we may not all get to be together on Christmas, but I'm super excited we get to be together!! I'm rushing to get Christams presents made for extended family so we can mail them off soon and this is what I came up with for the Grandmas:

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the saying, spray painted two boards I had in the garage, then Modge Podged the saying on and added clothespins so Grandma can hang up her favorite pictures of the grandkids or the kids' artwork!  Easy and DONE!

Burlap Stockings....Kinda

I failed to mention in my previous post, Christmas Decor, that it was taking me so long to get my Christmas decorating finished because I went with completely new colors this year.  Normally, we have always used the traditional Christmas colors of red, green and gold, but this year I wanted to do something different and found my inspirational colors {silver, brown and turqoise} from a banner that I purchased at Homegoods. Well....I should have thought about changing ALL the colors out because I forgot about stockings!  I saved money by buying inexpensive ornaments and ribbons from Wal-mart, Target and Dollar Tree, and I made a lot of the stuff and reused and repurposed things I already had with paint.  So, onto stockings...I couldn't use the old stockings, well, I could, but they wouldn't GO!  I grabbed left over burlap and my glue gun...this is how they turned out:

I seriously just free-handed the shape...I figured it couldn't be that hard {thank goodness it came out looking like a stocking!}

Hot glued the edges {on two of them I left them hooked together on the fold...less gluing ;)}

I made a cuff by simply folding down the extra material and then used scraps of twine from another project to outline the toes and heels

Three stockings in 15 minutes.  They are not the prettiest, they may not hold anything, but dammit, they GO!

Added an ornament to each stocking and called it good!

This picture has nothing to do with this post.  It's my centerpiece right now.  Doesn't it just make you hungry??

CHIPPY, RUSTY FAB FIND

I'm not very lucky at finding awesome things on the curb...the things I HAVE found are a changing table, and a dresser, so I was really excited to spot a metal birdbath! It is rusty, chippy, and awesome. This is what I did with it:
