EXCITING CHANGES!!

So....have you noticed anything different?!
I am SO in LOVE with my new blog design!  Thank you, Kerry!!  Kerry happens to have an etsy shop called Design Muse filled with pretty awesome premade blog templates, logos and etsy shop designs!  I wanted to overhaul my blog and my etsy shop (that I'm ashamed to admit has been neglected until this month), so I was browsing through etsy, saw her design and that was it!  I love the colors and the birds and the fonts and the....oh, you've had enough?  Ok :)  Kerry was more than WONDERFUL to work with and she really helped me out (considering that I know nothing about html, I'm trying, I'm trying!)  If you are in the market for a blog overhaul, please visit DESIGN MUSE!

Tomorrow morning I will be back with a project I have been working on since Saturday?  Sunday?  My days have been running together because my little man, Hago, has been sick and clingy.  Our 3rd round with a nasty virus :(  BUT, I am super excited to share what I've been doing and the changes to my etsy shop!!!!  Stay tuned!

TWO PROJECTS FOR ONE

I wanted to spray paint some letters, so I thought...I can do two things at once!  So, I laid my letters out in a fun way on an Ikea board (from my as-is stash), taped them down and got to spraying!

I got these die-cut letters from Dollar Tree

Krylon paint in my FAVE color, Pimento

After spray paint

Cut out cardstock and burlap for my bunting.

I hot glued everything together and DONE!  I'm really in love with burlap, black stripes and the orangey letters!

I sanded down the sign to distress it and it looks WAY better in person, however.....

I'm not sure where I want to put it and....I may add more to it.  It looks a little plain to me.

Two new projects finished in about 30 minutes....I was able to cut out the materials for the bunting while the paint dried, so very fast, easy projects!

I've entered this project here:

CRAFT FAILS

Have you seen the awesome book page garland made by Gina at The Shabby Creek Cottage?  It is fantastic!  I even left her a comment claiming that I had to make one NOW!  Yeah....that totally jinxed me.  Here is her lovely book page garland:

Gorgeous, right?  Well, I started with this:
A book from the Dollar Tree.  I've used it for several projects and I don't feel bad ripping out the pages...my prob though, I start reading as I'm crafting.  Haha!

Ok...so here is where I get frustrated and give up.  I didn't take a picture, but I just couldn't get my pages to lay straight, ruffle-like.  It kept curving in, so I just went with that and made a wreath.  I cut a wreath form out of cardboard and started gluing.

(Wow, that looks like a ca-razy wreath form!)  After finishing the wreath, I decided I needed to "age" it.....

I considered this a total craft fail until Sarah B. came over and said she actually liked it.  It is starting to grow on me...so, I added some Halloween touches.

It's so-so.  I was really hoping to make the book page garland because I really love how it looks on Gina's mantle.  Who knows...I just bought another Dollar Tree book last night, maybe I'll give it another shot.  Seriously though, go check out Gina's Halloween mantle!  It's to die for!  (ha!  see what I did there?  Halloween?  Die for?)

Second craft fail.  Yes, I had two right in a row!  I've been seeing all these fab decoupage pumpkins and wanted to try one.  I bought a Dollar Tree pumpkin, picked my paper, cut it into strips and started gluing.  EPIC FAIL!  It is HARD!  I do not have a picture of my sad, wrinkly pumpkin.  I just couldn't bear to document it.  It was even worse after I attempted to PULL the paper off.  I moved on to another craft, but the pumpkin was just screaming at me, "FAIL!"  Finally, it hit me what I needed to do....threw a whole scrapbook page over it, added a kick ass embellishment and screamed, "VICTORY!"  It's my favorite pumpkin by far:

Ha ha!  Everyone who knows me, knows that I have an obsession with mustaches!  I love it!

And since I would love to see other craft fails  (it would totally make me feel better about myself), I'm going to link to these parties (just don't laugh at me too much):

Quick, Easy Decorative Stands...And Gift Bags

My husband is currently deployed overseas, so that means lots of goodie boxes get sent his way at least once a month.  To make this easier for me, I order all my flat rate boxes and customs forms online and the post office delivers them with my mail for no charge.  Waaaaaay back when (last Aug to be precise), I accidentally ordered the medium boxes, when I meant to order the large.  Might as well go with the large since they take two bucks off if shipping to an APO address!!!  So, I've been storing these boxes for over a year now.  I've seen many people use them to make magazine holders and organizers, but I can't cut an even, pretty line to save my life, so I made a stand instead.  You know how you always need to elevate things on a food table or in a display?  This is what I'll use on my Halloween food table this year:
Supplies: scrapbook paper, box, Modge Podge and sponge brush.  Not shown: ribbon and hot glue gun.

Yes, I keep my used brush in a baggie and keep using over and over and over and..you get the idea.
I cut the paper into strips and started gluing!

This project was finished in about 30 minutes, start to finish...seriously!

Used in a display....

Holding the gift bags!

The gift bags were super easy to make, a white lunch bag, cupcake liners, some chipboard stickers and ribbon.  I had everything on hand, actually all supplies were left over from other projects, so I'm going to say they were basically free.

Both projects were so easy, fun and cute!  I may make two more boxes...or attack the shoe boxes I've been keeping for awhile....love fast crafts!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!

GHOST FOOTPRINTS..C'MON, EVERYBODY'S DOING 'EM!

If I linked to everyone doing these adorable ghost footprints, the links would go on for days....So, type footprints into search on Pinterest or just Google ghost footprints.  They are EVERYWHERE!  And I'm happy about that because I wouldn't have thought of it...or the reindeer footprints either and I'm SO doing those too!
I painted an old board I had Krylon's Gloss Black.  Scruffed it up a bit on the edges.

The fun part was painting Hagan's feet and helping him stand on the burlap.  I slathered on TONS of paint because I knew the material would suck it up (and it did!).

Modge Podged on some pretty cardstock and nailed the burlap on with little tacks.

Then....the fun stuff....accessorizing!  I used chipboard stickers that I got from Walmart in the dollar section (LOVING that section now!).  I put them on with Modge Podge and then put a second coat over the top.  Glued a ribbon on to hang and DONE!  I LOVE IT!  Thank you to all who have shared this craft!
